Who We Are

Wren the Band

is a Soul-Folk Band from Portland Oregon.

Our core members are Chrissy Wood on vocals and Andy Wilhelm on Guitar, who have been working together since 2018.

Our music is will make you want to close your eyes and drop into the present moment. Some songs will make you dance, some might make you cry.

Our show is perfect for a picnic in the park, an evening at a winery, or a spicy night in a jazz club basement.

Our debut EP “Close Your Eyes and See” was released at the beginning of 2022. We have over a dozen originals in our rotation, with new singles in the recording process.

We usually perform as a three piece with Dominic Kukla on percussion. On occasion we will pull from a pool of musicians for larger shows to add some part/ combination of bass, drums, piano, trumpet, saxophone, and more.

CHRISSY WOOD

Lead Singer Chrissy loves making pretty things for people. She’s been singing since a young age, thriving in choir from grade school Oregon State, and in 2015 decided to really give this music thing a try.

She enjoys crafting of many different kinds, from macrame to lettering to maintaining an indoor jungle at home 🙂 An advocate for social justice, she was a leader of the 2020 non-violent protests in Portland, speaking to thousands every day. She manages this all while holding a day job as an engineer at Nike and having four cats.

ANDY WILHELM

Andy Wilhelm is the guitarist, composer, and arranger for Wren the Band. Originally from New Jersey, he first picked up the guitar at 22 years old.

He has a diverse range of musical influences encompassing jazz, funk, hip hop, pop, and rock. He’s a bit of an old head and a musical purist, insisting they don’t quite make them like Stevie Wonder anymore. Andy composes alongside Chrissy, helping Chrissy take her words and melodies through to complete songs.
